Sažetak
This report is prepared for the XXIX FIDE Congress in The Hague, on Topic 1: National Courts and the Enforcement of EU Law: The Pivotal Role of National Courts in the EU Legal Order. In it, National Rapporteurs describe how Croatian courts have slowly but steadily advanced in performing their role as European courts. In particular, national judges have built a decent record of applying EU law directly and recognising its supremacy over domestic law, complying with the interpretive obligation, using the preliminary reference procedure to reach the Court of Justice of the EU, etc. However, many fundamental principles and doctrines of EU law have been applied without much discussion or contention. At the same time, contemporary, subtler issues of EU doctrinal debates have not yet been raised before the Croatian courts.
