Sažetak
Illegal migration have emerged as significant and complex issues in the fields of international relations, national and international security and human rights. One of the major migrant route is so called Western Balkan migrant route, which is geographically the subject of this paper. Given that they are located at a migration crossroad between Eastern and Western Europe illegal migration occurs on a significant scale throughout the Western Balkan route and affects all countries in the region. However, Greece, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Hungary have been most affected by illegal migrants flows and the problem of illegal crossings of its borders. They have responded in a multitude of ways to the challenges associated with managing the effects of illegal migration. In this sense, the paper focuses on the problem of illegal migration with particular emphasis on North Macedonia and poses the question how North Macedonia dealing with huge number of illegal immigrants, and how is it in a compliance with certain EU migration policies and regulations. Although, in the case of North Macedonia, its main actions and responsibilities are in complying with EU regulations and policies, the issue remains open for years to come.
