Sažetak
The Tibetan Terrier (TT) is a breed believed to be more than 2, 000 years old and to descend from one of the oldest breed of dogs. In European TT population two lines were established – Lamleh and Luneville. The European population represents a rather narrow gene pool, which has been enriched by several outbreeding episodes with dogs of similar appearance during the history of the breed. We were recently able to collect an exclusive sample of native TT from Tibet, European samples of Lamleh and Luneville lineage as well as F1, F2 and F3 generations of crosses between native population and Lamleh lineage. We analysed 24 Tibetan Terrers by CanineHD Illumina BeadChip and 48 Tibetan Terriers by 18 microsatellite loci and mtDNA D-loop region. The aim of this study was to provide an assessment of the genetic structure of TT, their relationship with other breeds from the Terrier and Companion and Toy Dogs groups and to trace back their origin and history using HD density SNP chips, control region of mtDNA and microsatellites. We confirmed the assumption that European TT population not only represent a small part of genetic variation present in the native population of TT, but that native TT are genetically more similar to other Tibetan breeds from FCI Companion and Toy Dog Group than to other breeds from FCI Terrier Group.
