Sažetak
This final paper deals with the presentation of the main characteristics and features of the system of V-N compounds as a word-formation process in English and Italian. The main aim of the paper is to show the main similarities and differences in these two languages. As far as the structure of the paper is concerned, the first part shows the so-called basic theoretical part dealing with general definitions, characteristics and classifications of compounds (along with more elaborated description of endocentric, exocentric and synthetic compounds), both English and Italian, and some of the classification problems. The very core of the paper deals with the portrayal of nominal compounds, more precisely their subtype of V-N compounds, their characteristics, similarities and differences supported by examples in the offered languages. Finally, as the end of the paper, two parts are presented that deal with the presentation of certain corpus researches in order to provide insight into the frequency of V-N compounds in these languages, but also some possible translational peculiarities, all for the purpose of determining particularities of compounds in English and Italian.
