Sažetak
Ever since humans built their first houses, residential buildings were constructed in order to protect people from extreme atmospheric conditions. Today, at the beginning of the 21st century, most assesments predict that environemental protection and finding new energy sources will prove to be basic problems of humanity&#8217 ; ; s progress. Therefore, a rational use of energy we momentarily posess is essential. This research has a goal to initiate use of sun energy in the process of reconstructing existing residential buildings. That is primarily related to great energy &#8220 ; ; spendthirfts&#8221 ; ; , without any thermal insulation, which are built in the city of Osijek during fifties, sixties and seventies years in the last century. Building sunspaces (greenhouses), as the architectonically most perfect way of passively using solar energy, achieves significant thermal energy savings. Unadequately maintained residential houses, through rebuilding and reconstructing new elements, provide possibilities for a modern redesign of the whole edifice to be used for many years to come. Except architectural and energy contributions the realization of this research gives us the folowing bio-ecological contributes and improvements : - an improvement of thermal confort in the residential houses and human health as well - an increase of floor area with sunny and green spaces - a decrease of environment pollution by means of a reduction of residue gas emission.
