Sažetak
With the increasing demand for the production of biodiesel, transesterification process took its place in the production line. On the other hand, the purification of crude biodiesel is still a bottleneck of downstream process. Because of that, and in order to satisfy international standard norms (EN 14214:2012/A2:2019), the removal of glycerol as the main challenge needs to be thoroughly explored. In this work, water and different deep eutectic solvents (DESs) based on ethylene glycol or glycerol mixed with choline chloride were used as extraction/purification medium. Three different microextractors were used and compared. With the usage of ChCl:Gly1:2.5 DES, glycerol was almost completely removed from the crude biodiesel for the residence time of only 13.61 s [1]. This clearly demonstrates the application of DESs in micro-extractors as efficient methodology for glycerol removal during biodiesel purification.
