Sažetak
Contemporary approaches to architectural and urban design are influenced by digital (r)evolution ; they are digitally enabled and digitally driven. Architects are exploring advances in digital design technologies to conceptualize and enable constructing complex forms or optimizing time, costs and resources. Designing with digital tools provides the presence of structural and material aspects in the project from its earliest stages, mutually interlinking. Implementation of digital design technologies in architectural education of The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture Osijek (GRAFOS), Croatia will be presented. Bachelor study students at GRAFOS, attending the architectural course Introduction in the integrated design during the academic 2018/2019 year, had a task of designing an integrated pavilion space in the backyard of the Franjo Krežma School in Osijek. Elementary school areas in Osijek needed to be analyzed from the spatial aspect and inner and outdoor spaces ratio, due to changes in school curricula and conflicts that appeared only recently. The task had the main goal: the whole backyard of the school as well as the pavilion had to be designed for diverse school activities mainly outdoor teaching activities, sport activities and leisure. At the first stage of project, students needed to collect the data to set up the goal and users requests for the pavilion through participation tools 16 (interview with teachers and pupils). The workshop methodology included the following elements: participation activity, defining goals, and establishing evaluation criteria, creating solutions, the selection process and public presentation of the results. The process also included educational goals: research through communication with users, implementation of decision-making as a design method, apply the concept of sustainability - sustainable raw materials, sustainable design. For the spatial mapping of the school backyard, 3D laser scanning technology was used and data were collected with a static terrestrial scanner. Because of survey, we acquired georeferenced measurable colored point cloud with detailed accuracy, which represents the real state of built objects in the backyard. The 3D point cloud was used as a start point (base layer) for the process of designing the pavilions. The semester task resulted with eight architectural designs that will be presented in this study as well as methodology of workshop.
