Sažetak
To ensure reliable and traceable measuring results, it is necessary to calibrate measuring devices periodically. In the field of surface roughness, the most commonly used measuring device is stylus instrument. Traceability of measurement results obtained using stylus instruments is ensured by implementation of relevant ISO standards. Standard ISO 5436-1: 2000 defines different types of artefacts to be used for calibration of stylus instruments. Due to recognized limitations of the current traceability chain in the calibration of stylus instruments national metrology institutes are investing efforts to develop a new calibration approaches, particularly for different amplitude and wavelength values, which cannot be achieved using artefacts defined by ISO 5436- 1 standard. This paper presents the results of preliminary research carried out in the Laboratory for precise measurement length of the Faculty of mechanical engineering and naval architecture in Zagreb, with the intention to determine the suitability of available measuring equipment for calibration of stylus instrument using a displacement transducer.
