Sažetak
Today’s world is more competitive, interrelated and interdependent than ever before, all fostered by increased globalization. We are witnessing reshaping global economy, from international trade, regional economic integrations, migration, investment, societal challenges, innovation and technology, as well as geopolitical challenges. New important stakeholders, emerging economies, are also drastically changing and influencing global economy. These trends will influence the European Union's role in the world, in all these aspects. The contribution of the paper is twofold. First, the paper gives an overview of key global trends which are reshaping global economy. Second, it identifies perspectives and challenges for the European Union member states in maintaining their role and level of competitiveness and accordingly offers recommendations for future development.
