Sažetak
Textile fabrics (woven, knitted and nonwoven materials) are used in various sectors of human life. These products are indispensable not only in our clothing, but also in different industries such as motor, aircraft, furniture, catering industry etc. Different fabrics for the production of car covers joined with various forms of sewing were examined. Breaking force of the cloth as well as abrasion resistance of the fabric in warp and weft direction were tested. Samples of fabrics to be tested with a joined place and without a joined place on the sample were taken. The woven fabric turned out to be the strongest textile fabric having the highest breaking force and penetration resistance. Due to its stiffness and the resulting discomfort fixed materials on the back of the fabric are used to eliminate these disadvantages. The advantage of the knit fabric does not lie in its strength, but elasticity and softness so that it is more comfortable than woven fabric. Its markedly lower abrasion resistance and breaking force make it less durable than woven fabric and artificial leather. Artificial leather had the highest abrasion resistance, but its penetration resistance and the values of breaking force were not satisfactory due to low elongation. Artificial leather is especially durable, but its coldness, discomfort and low elasticity as well as high price are the reasons why the car industry prefers woven and knitted fabrics. Breaking force, abrasion resistance and penetration resistance were higher among all fabrics. Their decrease during tests was along the seam. Nearly in all tests and samples the test results were better for the samples having shorter stitches resp. a higher number of stitches/cm. The stitch density represents the most important parameter affecting the examined values.
