Sažetak
This paper suggests opportunities for archaeology to contribute to a more robust under-standing of long-term urban-ecological relationships centered on northern Dalmatia, and particularly the Croatian port city of Zadar and the surrounding Ravni Kotari, as reflective of a millennial-scale process of urbanization. The nearbyarchaeological site of Nadin-Gradina, centrally positioned in the Ravni Kotari, is proposed as a proxy measurement of urban and landscape change through time. Although the archaeological component of this project is still in its early stages at the time of writing, its potential as a registry of landscape change can nevertheless be outlined.
