Sažetak
Drug abuse is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality among young people worldwide. In the mortality resulting from drug abuse, overdose has a special place. This chapter examines a recent research into opiate overdose and interventions that will reduce the rate of fatal overdoses. Individual risk factors and population level factors are both discussed here. Responses by opiate users to overdoses are also examined. Finally, potential interventions to reduce the rate of overdose and overdose-related morbidity are suggested.
