Sažetak
For the purpose of rehabilitation of water heater tanks attacked by the severe internal corrosion, an active cathodic protection system has been chosen. System is precisely designed as a summary of research data, empirical datasets and physico-chemical analyses. In a term of permanent integrity preservation, a cathodic protection system is designed for complete life cycle. Assessing the risks and having in mind that water tank is closed space under raised pressure and temperature where replacement of components is not an option, and also that life cycle is for next 30 years, a “three level of safety” concept has been established. Paper will present corrosion case study and cathodic protection as a solution. In particular, it will discuss design approach, instalment of equipment, in situ measurements and evaluation of results, showing that system operates successfully. In addition, room for further upgrades of system involving statistical processing will be considered.
