Sažetak
The Internet of Things (IoT) has become of greatimportance in the last decades. The term is used to denote theconnectivity between electronic devices that allows the collectand sharing of data through the Internet. IoT technologiescan be applied to automate and minimize problems related tourbanization in Smart City scenarios. In this context, MQTTbrokers (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) are used toenable communication between IoT devices. Brokers are respon-sible for enabling connection and sending of messages betweendevices. The current literature presents a wide variety of brokersand to choose the suitable solution for the project, which canlead to performance problems, may become a hard task. Thus, the objective of this paper is to analyze the performance ofMQTT brokers regarding latency in the data packets sending, and to present advantages and drawbacks of the solutionsin Smart Cities scenarios. Results showed that the computerhardware features and the bandwidth used have a greater impacton the latency, showing that several factors can influence theperformance of brokers.
