Sažetak
Marble was imported in Istria in a raw state or semi-finished. Coloured marbles were favoured in architectonical decoration, white marbles were predominant in sculpture. Unfinished marble sarcophagi and columns indicate that stone- dressers qualified to work with marble were active at Pula during whole Roman Empire. Analysis of eight selectioned samples revealed white marbles utilised for imperial and other official statues: Pentelico, Paros – Lakkoi and Carrara. By comparison between statues of different marbles but demonstrating similar style, we can argue about probability that these statues were made locally.
