Sažetak
Thermal water manifestations around the world are due to the interior heat of the Earth. The 80% of such heat is related to the decay of radioisotopes of the rocks, while the residual 20% is a primitive heat of the Earth. The development of a geothermal system is linked to a contemporaneous presence of three components: a source of heat, a carrier of heat (fluids) and a reservoir. The heat source is usually represented by an anomalous heat gradient that develops in plate convergent margins or in hot spot areas. However, thermal systems occur also in sedimentary basins with normal geothermal gradient, where original meteoric waters infiltrate deeply and rise towards the surface thanks to peculiar geological setting. Thermal manifestations are widespread in Italy. The origin of the heat of these fluids can be due to both local geo¬thermal anomalous gradients, such as in Tuscany, Lazio or Campania, and water uprising in deep sedimentary basins, e.g. in the Veneto-Friuli plain or in the northern Apennine area. Essentially, in all these cases we are speaking about fluids with a meteoric origin.
