Sažetak
The Euganean Geothermal Field (EGF) located in the Veneto alluvial plain is the most important thermal field in the northern Italy. This work aims to renew the thermal system conceptual model using the knowledge developed in the last 30 years of hydrogeological, structural and geochemical studies on both the EGF and the central Veneto. The proposed conceptual model highlights the role of regional faults in enhancing the regional groundwater flow. The rise of thermal waters in the EGF is favoured by an interaction zone between the faults that locally increases the fracturing and the permeability of the bedrock. The physical validity of this conceptual model was validated using 2D and 3D fluid flow and heat transport numerical simulations.
