Sažetak
Online intermediation services are becoming indispensable in the field of online economy and are a crucial step for the success of businesses using these services as they enable them to attract more consumers. Being aware of the dependence on their services, service providers can impose harmful commercial practices on business users and therefore significantly affect the results of their transactions generated through the use of their services. On 20 June 2019, the European Parliament and the Council adopted the Regulation on promoting fairness and transparency for business users of online intermediation services. It seeks to ensure a legal framework that guarantees fair and transparent commercial practices for business users of online intermediation services and online search engines. The aim of this paper is to present and explain the solutions representing the new legal regime of the use of online platforms, define the reasons for adopting these rules at EU level and determine their position within the system of unfair competition law, particulary in B2C and B2B (business-to-consumer and business-to-business) relations.
