Sažetak
Thermal water manifestations around the world are due to the interior heat of the Earth. The 80% of such heat is related to the decay of radioisotopes of the rocks, while the residual 20% is a primitive heat of the Earth. The development of a geothermal system is linked to the contemporaneous presence of three components: a source of heat, a carrier of heat (fluids) and a reservoir. The first component is associated to an anomalous heat gradient as in the plate convergent margins or in the hot spot areas, but usually can be related to waters deeply infiltrating in sedimentary basins, where the heat gradient can be normal. The fluids are generally meteoric waters. The presence of a reservoir is connected with a particular stratigraphic and/or geostructural setting. Thermal manifestations are widespread in Italy. The origin of the heat of these fluids can be due to both local geothermal anomalous gradients, such as in Tuscany, Campania or Sicily, and water infiltration in deep sedimentary basins, e.g. in the Euganean and Tagliamento areas.
