Sažetak
Although the modernization activities of developing tourist environments in socialist Yugoslavia did not overcome monofunctional programming, the physical articulation of tourist areas – the controlled regional distribution of tourist capacities, rational design of urbanistic ensembles, quality of architectural articulation, distribution of programs within architectural complexes, implementation of public infrastructure – all generated active, interesting and accessible environments. They gradually became non-planned social condensers. Once planned as a town’s “other” or as simulations of urban environments, the tourist environments have shown through time their capacity to take in the public sphere.
