Sažetak
Because of the roads being considered as public goods, when considering the traffic of heavy cargo vehicles, the habit of using standard two-way roads instead of the parallel motorways has almost become a rule in Croatia. Such attitude towards inadequate exploitation of the available road network has resulted in a number of serious traffic and other problems (degradation of carriageways of conventional roads, lower traffic safety, threat to the environment, higher expenditures for road maintenance, increase of operative and exploitation costs, etc.) which require adequate solutions. One of the solutions is related to realisation and operationalisation of the traffic regulation project which temporarily bans traffic of heavy cargo vehicles on respective conventional two-way roads in the corridors of parallel motorways. This paper elaborates on the elements and factors of one such project of redirecting traffic of heavy cargo vehicles from the conventional county two-way roads to the motorway corridors Zagreb-Macelj, Zagreb-Goričan, Zagreb-Lipovac and Zagreb-Karlovac.
