Sažetak
Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences is part of the University of Zagreb. Zagreb is the capital city of Croatia. Special unit of the Faculty is The Centre for Rehabilitation. The Centre is a teaching base, training base and clinical unit for students studying at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels at the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences. Professors, assistants and associates provide professional support for clients with diverse chronological age that have different needs, developmental difficulties and disorders. One of 12 units in the Centre is the Psychotherapy unit. In this unit, beside other clients, we provide counseling for students based on principles of several branches and schools of psychotherapy (Gestalt psychotherapy, psychodrama, dancing and movement therapy). In this paper, Gestalt approach in counseling with students will be presented. Some of the basic concepts of Gestalt will be shown (holistic concept, awareness and responsibility, contact and borders, belonging and autonomy, polarities, being here and now…) as well as some methods and techniques (therapeutic cards, empty of “hot” chairs, projective methods, role playing, dialogue, body awareness). Additionally, some special features of therapeutic relationship and counselor attitude will be emphasized. All this will be illustrated and accompanied by examples of working with students who are clients of the Centre.
