Sažetak
The developments of educational technology during the last decade have witnessed a shift from the traditional use of courseware and learning management systems (LMSs) toward the use of wikies, blogs and other web-based collaborative tools and services. The Web 2.0 concept, which places an emphasis on interconnectivity, interactivity, and user-generated content, is also considered important for the innovation in the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in foreign language instruction. This presentation is based on the Engwiki project, which deals with online learning of English by using a wiki tool as a platform for publishing and sharing students’ written work. Students also used the wiki to present the artifacts they have designed to support their written texts. These artifacts were based on Web 2.0 tools for creating mind maps, block diagrams, audio-supported online presentations etc. Furthermore, this presentation will elaborate on the concept of ‘e-tivities’ as a pedagogical format for meaningful implementation of ICT into the foreign language classroom. Concrete examples of e-tivities from the Engwiki project will be presented, as well as their taxonomy and guidelines for e-tivity design. The Engwiki project has been conducted since 2006 in tertiary ESP courses. Although initially designed for college courses, the e-tivities tested in the Engwiki project are applicable to different educational levels and age groups. The most recent e-tivities performed in Engwiki include grammar e-tivities in which students used several Web 2.0 tools to present grammar topics. The results of the students’ e-tivity evaluation will be presented as well.
