Sažetak
Natural waters can contain harmful pollutants as the consequence of decades of uncontrolled waste and wastewater discharges and anthropogenic activities. Besides well-known heavy metals water contamination and microbiological pollutions, the recent researches conducted all over the world, detected various chemical compounds in the water bodies such as pharmaceuticals, endocrine disrupters, micro and nanoplastic particles, herbicides, pesticides etc. which can affect the health of every individual. Those knowledges sets new demands and challenges for water and wastewater technologies, as well for international and national environmental and health standard regulators. This paper presents and discusses the new trends in water and wastewater treatments designed and developed in order to produce safety drinking water or wastewater effluent on environmentally friendly, economically and socially acceptable way.
