Sažetak
The paper first gives a brief overview of treatments of verb-preposition combinations in traditional Hispanic linguistics (see Alarcos Lllorach 1966, Chivite 1988, Dapena 1992), where they are studied under the heading of complements of prepositional government (Sp. complementos de régimen preposicional). These theoretical considerations are followed up by a corpus-linguistic study of Spanish and Croatian verb-prepositional constructions, conducted from a contrastive linguistic and construction grammar perspective (Goldberg 1995). In the accompanying syntactic-semantic analysis, Spanish and Croatian verb-prepositional constructions are argued to exhibit semantic regularities that enable cross-linguistic generalizations readily formalized as interlinguistic prepositional clusters (see Katunar and Kežić 2016).
