Sažetak
Navigation systems up to now were closed, and maps were subject to changes. The proposed idea of a redesigned solution saves the GIS database on the server at the content provider, rather than on CD-ROM/DVD. The service is available to mobile users via Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) or General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) or Universal mobile Telecommunication Systems (UMTS) provider. The users can select competitive provider on the market and use the Internet to order a part of the latest updated wold map. Certain elements are supervised by relevant Intelligent Transport System (ITS) institutions. The paper applies the navigation systems in the ITS-domain to research made on system architectures in other technological and business context. Conceptual design and implementation of Wireless Server-Based Navigation System (WSBNS) have to be harmonised with methodological approach and tools specified in the national and metropolitan ITS architecture.
