Sažetak
Comparing and apprehending the complexity of audience subjectivities through a Q- methodological approach (Davis & Michelle, 2011) not only allows the contextualization of news consumption profiles within socio cultural circumstances (Schrøder, 2012) but also enables examining audience responses as a possible locus of agency in the formation and development of media systems (Peruško et al., 2013). Media system as the institutional macro level which frames the context of media use has been shown to be a significant explanatory variable in previous research into media use (Peruško et al., 2015, Peruško & Vozab 2016, Aroldi at al. 2016). In the empirical clustering of European countries, both Croatia and Portugal exhibit similarities in this structural context so that they cluster together in the European peripheral digital mediascape. In the context of this collaborative research, we therefore propose to analyse and compare the identified cross-media repertoires in Croatia and Portugal, going further in the structural depth of the countries’ media system models. In fact, preliminary results have demonstrated similarities between the two countries in terms of news consumption profiles found and also in terms of their collective news repertoires, including the strongest position of national TV news bulletins on commercial channels in both national contexts.
