Sažetak
The ADHD symptoms are significantly associated with the involvement of children with such symptoms in bullying, and their poor social peer status and few friends who would support and defend them, enhances the risk of experiencing victimization by peers. The objective of this paper is to detect if age, gender, experience of victimization by peers, and experience of bullying others are predictors of victimization by peers and bullying others in children with ADHD. The data obtained are based on self-evaluations of children aged from 7 to 15 with ADHD diagnosis (N=72). Gender is a significant predictor of physical bullying, whereas the predictors ofverbal bullying are: gender, IEP, verbal victimization and the feeling of security. The males with ADHD are involved in bullying othersmore commonly than females with ADHD, and they feel secure in the school setting. The males with ADHD without any school accommodations by means of IEP, and who are exposed to verbal victimization, are also more often verbally aggressive towards their peers. Gender and security are significant predictors of physical victimization, whereas verbal bullying and security are the predictors of verbal victimization. In the case of victimization by peers, males more commonly than females experience physical victimization and feel insecure. Children with ADHD, who alone are verbally aggressive and feel secure in the school setting, are more exposed to verbal victimization. The results obtained are an important starting point for further research, but also for planning of interventions in order to prevent the occurrence of either bullying or victimization in children with ADHD.
