211 specimens of Cobitis narentana were analyzed from 7 localities in the Neretva River delta. The age of samples was determined using the scale method, with 5 age categories determined. For females, the greatest proportion of specimens (61%) was found to be in the 1+ age category (second year of life). Age categories 2+, 3+ followed in abundance. For males, the greatest proportion of specimens (53, 8 %) was in the 1+ age category. The age category 2 was second most abundant, with 33.3 % of males. Only 2 males in the 0+ and 3+ were collected, with only one male in the 4+ category. Growth was faster in males in the first year of life, while females grew at a faster rate after the first year. Males were found to be 1.5 times smaller than females of the same age category. Growth rate was determined using the von Bertalanffy growth rate curves. The resulting growth rate coefficient (K) was found to be slightly higher in males than in females.
