Sažetak
Unemployment of the young is still a major problem in Croatia. One of the areas of interest for employers and entrepreneurs is to create a flexible labour market and competent workforce. We believe that, due to the structure of challenges within the education system and employment, students often lack practical skills required by employers. The problem is the incompatibility between young people’s skills and expanding of their economic opportunities in the process of transition towards a competitive, marketdriven economy, which supports long-term sustainable growth. It is necessary to point out the importance of combining study and practical training in Croatia, as a basic model for the development of education for the labour market
