Sažetak
As a theory, neoliberalism has never had a single definition. It has always brought lot of controversies, especially related to gap between the rich and the poor. One of the most interesting and intriguing neoliberalist was Milton Friedman. He was very successful economist who had a firm public opinion about neoliberal policies. One of them, educational reform, stated that private education is the best for children and young people because provides better education and promotes diversification. He saw natural catastrophes as an opportunity to reform educational system. That’s exactly what happened in New Orleans. After the struck of hurricane Katrina, neoliberal think tanks took a chance in reshaping schools to create young managers and in order to make a profit. This article deals with the theory of neoliberalism, its educational reform which was implemented in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and the people who were directly affected by it.
