Sažetak
The objective: investigate the influence of mother’s abdominal body fat distribution on fetal growth in the first trimester of pregnancy. Methodts: statistically design: controlled observation, The sample included 400 pregnant women with singleton, non-pathological pregnancies. Fetal measures: CRL, 12th ± 4 days gestational week. Mothers measures: minimal thickness of subcutaneous fat (Smin) and maximal thickness of preperitoneal fat (Pmax), method described by Suzuki. Results: There was no significant correlation between the CRL and the components of the abdominal wall fat in normal weight group pregnant women, significant corellation was found between the CRL and the components of the abdominal wall fat in overweight and obese pregnant women. Conclusion: the amount and distribution of abdominal body fat in overweight and obese pregnant women is associated with the fetal length in the first trimester of pregnancy wherein the thicknes of preperitoneal body fat, as an indirect representative of visceral fat, was a more powerful predictive variable.
