Sažetak
Recently, economic theory is increasingly focused on the importance of creating innovative business models that companies use to gain advantage over other companies. The very definition of the business model as a platform for the creation and preservation of values defines a series of activities of the company from the purchase of materials to the satisfaction of the consumer, and ultimately resulting in the creation of value through a variety of activities. These activities are related mainly to elements such as value proposition, Target market, Value chain, Revenue mechanism, Value network and Competitive strategy. Innovation refers to the recognition and harmonization of these factors in the context of increasing organizational efficiency, which can bring an advantage to the company regardless of the technological advantage of some other companies. In terms of cost savings, customer demand, loyalty and trust, supply chain and commitment to innovation, innovative business models should lead to business sustainability. This paper analyzes the maritime companies in the sector of maritime international container traffic with respect to their financial results and trends that follow shipping industry. By using establishment of clusters of the financial parameters, as well as trend analysis of financial indicators for the observed years, it is possible to propose guidelines for the introduction of innovative business models in the sector of maritime companies. These guidelines are especially important due to the fact that the shipping industry has a widespread impact on the world's economy, as about 90% of the international trade is shipped around the globe by sea. Innovative business models are implemented in the maritime container companies should improve the performance of maritime container lines and thereby influence the evolution of international shiping in the context of economic growth and trade, fleet development, market developments in the sector, trip-level cost structures, technological developments, environmental requirements , security (focusing on piracy and armed robbery at sea), maritime labor, incentives and subsidises and new infrastructure, ports and routes.
