Sažetak
Objective: Background: When treating psychotic patients, long-acting antipsychotic medications have an advantage over orally administered antipsychotics due to greater treatment compliance which can subsequently improve motivation of patients to participate in sociotherapeutic treatment and foster mental health recovery. Methods: Goal: The goal of this research was to demonstrate in what measure the need for application of a long- acting antipsychotic medication, which requires hospital observation during application, motivated patients to participate in the offered sociotherapeutic program. Results: Result: Application of a long-acting antipsychotic medication, in a diagnostically heterogeneous group of patients, resulted in greater patient participation in the sociotherapeutic program which improved treatment compliance and required further treatment with a long acting antipsychotic medication. Conclusion: Discussion: In what measure did the need to administer long-acting antipsychotic medication motivate patients to participate in sociotherapeutic treatment and in what way and measure did exactly that need motivate psychiatric staff to design and motivate patients to participate in that same treatment. Conclusion: Application of a longacting antipsychotic medication in psychotic patients was certainly one of the most important motives for them to participate in sociotherapeutic treatment.
