The truth about the establishment of the quarantine in Dubrovnik took a long time to be discovered. Special tribute should be paid to Grmek, who has been examining Ragusan quarantine regulations for years. Dubrovnik was definitely a historical and conceptual leader in promulgating quarantine regulations starting with 1377. The oldest anti-epidemic measures of the Republic of Dubrovnik- quarantine isolation, is one of the most important contributions of Croats to the medieval world health heritage.
