Sažetak
The phenomenon of witches and witch-hunts was omnipresent in European societies in the early modern era and it left deep marks in different spheres of human existence, evidently also in literature. Selecting the most intriguing sections from Zagorka's novels we have demonstrated that The Witch of Gric is in many ways an ambitious project. It is a literary encyclopedia of superstition, a dynamic adventure, a love story and a rather authentic picture of a pitiful historical period when superstitious madness was murderous in its savage and inhuman rage.
