Sažetak
As opposed to the large tourist areas in the Mediterranean, eastern Adriatic littoral is characterized by the spatial boundedness on one hand and the diversity of valorised and potential tourist resources on the other. The focus of the tourist resort management strategies in these areas is, generally, bathing tourism. Maximal exploitation of such orientation is being pursued by the augmentation of the accommodation and supplementary facilities which has multi- dimensional negative repercussions to the natural surroundings, flora and fauna as well as cultural heritage. The diversity of the potential tourist resources and their current inadequate use represent a stimulus for the re- evaluation of the key variables of the strategic tourist resort management model which reflects the research problem. The diversity of the potential tourist resources in the tourist resort´s surroundings is a pre-condition for the development of the various specialized tourist products which can be practically implemented in the integrated tourist offer. In comparison with the larger tourist zones in the Mediterranean, spatial boundedness of the Eastern Adriatic littoral imposes the need to adapt the mass tourism oriented tourist resort strategic management model. Accordingly, subject of the research focuses on the findings of the primary research undertaken by the authors within the two year period (2013/2014). Based on those findings, a new, sustainable tourist resort strategic management model will be proposed.
