Sažetak
Nowadays, there is a universal trend that aims to provide solutions for urgent societal challenges which will secure sustainable growth. More specifically, low-carbon economy, environmental sustainability, smart energy systems and business environment improvements are particularly interesting areas for both research community as well as society. Wicked problems related to such areas are caused by inherently dynamic and convoluted interactions among social, economic, political and technical factors within complex sociotechnical energy system. All these problems naturally fall under the research agenda in the field of energy informatics, which in general applies information systems (IS) thinking and skills to increase the efficiency of energy demand and supply systems. Apart from IS scientists and practitioners, methods and contributions are needed from experts in other domains (e.g., power system and computer science) as well. Specifically, what seems to be alluring for data scientists is the fact complex sociotechnical energy systems naturally generate vast amount of data. Consequently, this leads to the conclusion big data approaches now become crucial.
