Sažetak
While computers have been extensively applied to those areas of the ship design process which are primarily analytical such as stability, the application of computer-aided design methods to ship arrangement has been limited. This limitation, has for the most part, been due to the inability to model arrangement process because of its dependence on intuitive human judgement. Yet, assuming some rationale for the naval architect's decisions, it should be possible to apply computers to conceptual phase of ship design and it's general arrangement. Here, computer is helping us in generating variants, evaluating and finding optimal solution of arrangement. The first part of dissertation is dealt with Ro-Ro ships generally. To be competitive due to transportation speed and quality of service of Ro-Ro ships all parts of logistic chain must work. Effective cargo handling equipment and proper arrangement of cargo spaces dictate the time spent in harbour and increases the number of calls. Also, the proper arrangement of passenger spaces influences the speed of loading and unloading and passenger satisfaction on Ro-Ro passenger and passenger ships. To solve these issues there is a need for the tool that will help us in applying new subdivision methods and new structural solutions. Standard ISO 10303-215 that represents application protocol for exchanging product data about subdivision information and the general arrangement is analysed. Supported types of design activities and computer applications include arrangement of spaces inside the ship, definition of functions for compartments and zones, detailed compartment and zone design, definition of loading conditions, definition of loading condition for the ship in service and analyses of intact and damaged stability. This standard is useful as a basis for the ship design because it consists all ship data and criteria that must be fulfilled in ship service, where some of them are used in this dissertation. Logical schemes of this general arrangement application protocol are being worked out where each functionality is presented with own scheme. In the second part of thesis the MARRSD (Modular Approach to Ro-Ro Ship Design) method is developed and explained as the possible solution for the modular approach of designing general arrangement of Ro-Ro ships. Method uses random selection of sequence of spaces assortment and arrange them with the usage of so called "free points". Searching the design space is done by Pareto method, which selects the non-dominated solutions, i.e. the ones that are better from others in at least on criteria. Examining the non-dominated solutions does final selection of optimal variant. Criteria for selection, dimensional and topological attributes, are set as constraints. Main goal of dissertation is to evaluate this approach and it's application on real ship design problems. The examples of computer simulation are performed. With this method it is possible in objective way to obtain the arrangement of spaces and it's variants, which speeds the procedure considerably and contributes to ship design process of Ro-Ro ships.
