Sažetak
Jagoda Truhelka regarded her literary activity as some kind of logistic for her teacher's work. Asymmetry between her teacher's and literary figure is obvious in the twofold reception – while her educational engagement has an almost suffragettes' character, her fiction was evaluated (only) as children's literature. In that way a part of her work remained out of any scientific recourse – particularly her shy feminism of her women's novels. Based on the comparative analysis of Truhelka's first novel Tugomila and her first expert discussions Što da čitaju naše mlade djevojke [What our young girls should read] the paper discusses, in a dialogue with the authors and the titles that canonized novel as a genre in the Croatian literature (for children) the work investigates different aspects of female youth education. The aim is to determine the concrete pedagogical and literary contribution of Jagoda Truhelka to the crossing of gender roles and genres.
