Sažetak
This study presents the possibility and design options for applying ceramic or polymeric microcapsules in different materials. The olfactory sense is transposed here as a perception feature, which may add value to product development. The aim of this work is to verify the applicability of ceramic and polymeric microcapsules containing fennel fragrant oil. The microcapsules synthesis was followed by application in different materials such as polyurethane foam, wood, paper, polyester fabric and cotton fabric. The characterization of the microcapsules as well as the materials with microcapsules were done by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Results have shown that fibrous, porous or hollow materials may be filled with microcapsules with considerable accomplishment. Also, thinking user-centered design, microcapsules might add meaning to objects through tangible and intangibles senses.
