Sažetak
The determination of cause and manner of deaths in fatal drug intoxications is a complex task for forensic medicine. The role of different toxicological methods of analysis is significant, but not exclusive. We present the results of several toxicological examinations of post-mortem tissue and fluid samples in each of 27 death cases of drug addicts in Split- Dalmatia County performed simultaneously in three separate laboratories, which enabled to make conclusion of acute or chronic abuse of illicit drugs. Due to not so rare negative, and even sometimes mutually opposite, results of performed analyses, it should be concluded that the definitive opinion about the cause of death in fatal drug intoxication could be established after taking into consideration the all the disposable facts: circumstances of death, previous history of drugs consumption, autopsy findings, hystological changes and, finally, toxicological results.
