Sažetak
Through this proposal my aim is to conduct a heterochronic research (Moxey) of various image- making structures during violent social acts. The topic is based on the analysis of films by Harun Farocki in the analogue economy of image production (most notably his work Videogramms of a Revolution, 1992). Building on Farocki’s video works, the question I pose is how visual representations of protests today in the “digital sphere” shape the identity of a spectator in terms of his epistemological relation to the visual? By comparing analogue, “traditional” image-making documentary practices (Farocki’s three works on photography and film) with new documentary practices (two case studies of activism streamed online) I claim that Farocki in the analogue sphere, as well as some digital media strategies of visualizing protests today can help in abandoning the idea of unidirectional dissemination of information from the "producers" to their receivers in favour of "nomadic hierarchy". I aim to present a qualitative analysis of visual representations of the digital moving image in everyday use in contrast to the usual rendition of decentralized media as manipulative or false. New technologies are inherently personal (smartphones, drones, cameras), but their effects are increasingly social. The topic of my talk lies precisely in that space of aporia.
