Sažetak
English became a language bridge between speakers whose native languages are different and is seen as global language and today’s lingua franca. This process is highly influencing educational system in Cambodia, and number of international schools with English as official language is rapidly rising during past decade. Research showed both, motivation and attitudes toward language are influencing language learning process, and the present study investigated relationship between instrumental and integrative motivation, and different language attitudes in Cambodian international school students. Participants were middle and high school students between ten and eighteen years old. Integrative and instrumental motivation were assessed by Attitude/Motivation Test Battery, AMTB (Gardner, 1985), while attitudes toward English involved assessment of attitude toward English native groups and reasons for learning English. In addition, differences in motivation and attitudes with respect to age and gender were investigated. Results are discussed in terms of Cambodia as nation under transition.
