Sažetak
In the context of Canadian Studies and CanLit, there is an emerging shift from national to transnational, as a result of underlying globalization processes that affect every aspect of contemporary life. Due to Canada’s unique geopolitical and cultural position between the Old and the New World, in the era of globalization, the importance of the ‘Canadian voice’ seems to be more relevant than ever. In his novel Generation A, Douglas Coupland, as an unlikely representative of such transnational tendencies in CanLit, explores the need for a redefinition of community and communication through storytelling in the era of globalization, sharing a unique perspective of contemporary globalized realities with other Canadian scholars, most notably with Marshall McLuhan.
