Sažetak
The author present the status of Religious Education under the jurisdiction of church and education authorities in the education system of the Republic of Cro-atia. Catholic religious education, called Religious Education, was reintroduced into Croatian public schools as an elective subject after the independence of the Republic of Croatia at the beginning of school year 1991-1992. Under the new democratic conditions the Catholic Church in Croatia discovered new areas for carrying out its essential mission – evangelization and one of the most important was the area of education. Over the past period, from 1991 to the present, there has been continuous cooperation in the area of Religious Education between church and state institutions.
