Sažetak
Wind power plants have many things in common with traditional utility electrical systems, but they also have unique characteristics that require special attention, especially when big offshore wind farms are considered. While the main source of transient overvoltages in overhead lines is lightning, overvoltages in cable systems are mainly caused by circuit breaker operations and they range from temporary overvoltages to very fast front transients. This study investigates the overvoltages and their causes that occur in the collector grids of Wind Power Plants, with special attention to offshore installations.
