Sažetak
In this text I discuss a distinction that has mostly been neglected in secondary literature. It is the distinction between two similar phenomena: on the one hand, the disavowal of authority that is characteristic of modern scientific culture and, on the other hand, the radical criticism of tradition characteristic of late sixteenth century philosophers. In the text, F. Patrizi's and M. Nizolio's criticism of tradition is compared with F. Bacon's and R. Descartes' disavowal of authorities.
