Sažetak
In this paper, various origins of the pedagogy of recognition is revealed, since it links the requirements of the democratic society and emancipatory social movements with philosophical teachings and pedagogical reform ideas. The diversity of terms with which this concept is designated in literature (recognition, inclusivity, diversity, heterogeneity) is explained by different fields of influence. These terms also point to the width of this domain and the necessity of nuancing the idea of recognition in the field of upbringing and education. Theological bases for the idea of recognition and its relevance to Religious Education in schools are explored. The empirical research conducted among Religious Education teachers in Croatia with the aim of examining their openness towards the pedagogy of recognition, is presented as an example and a small contribution to the development of the religious pedagogy of recognition.
