Sažetak
The culture of peace can be understood as a "metaculture" which peacefully binds together different cultures. There can be no culture of peace without having peace among cultures. Science and technology, with its global outreach and with the possibility of a global catastrophe, have made us aware of the necessity of the culture of peace. However, the culture of peace is not attainable by scientific and technical means. We need something more than what science and technology is able to offer us. A large role is ascribed to religions, not only because human beings are religious in themselves but especially because religions possess a spiritual power which can impell man to goodness and to peace. Peace is a presumption of every culture and every culture is in itself peaceful. Culture is an all-embracing concept for the creativity of the human špirit. Without peace there is no creativity, for the Muses are silent when the guns are speaking. That was already considered so in antiquity when war was understood as a condition of nature and peace as an interruption of this condition.
